How to Take a Screenshot

Remember when taking a screenshot for IT to always take a screenshot of the full page and not just the error issue. 


Screenshots on a Chromebook

To take a screenshot of a portion of the screen, press the Ctrl + Show windows keys that looks like this and is the one highlighted in the image below 

After you’ve taken the screenshot, you might see a copy of the screenshot in a pop-out window (depending on which version of Chrome OS you’re using). It will give you the option of copying the screenshot to your clipboard or annotating the image.


Either way, any screenshot you take will end up in the Downloads folder. To find the folder:

  • Select the Launcher at the left corner of your display.
  • Look for the icon named “Files” under the search field. If you don’t see it, select the up arrow and look for the “Files” app there.


Option A - How to take Screenshots on Windows Computers

The easy way to take a screenshot which works on most computers is to click Windows Key + Shift + S at the same time (see below). 

Drag to make the screenshot. Once you finish dragging it will make a screenshot and copy it, you can then go into the ticket message and right click and paste it. For instructions on pasting, see below. 


Option B - How to take Screenshots on Windows Computers 

A second option if the above doesn't work:

Press the START menu, type in Snipping and click on the Snipping Tool

Click the NEW button and click and drag to the area you want a screenshot of. Once done, you can save the image to your computer or copy it directly and paste it into your ticket (see image below)

How to Attach Your Screenshot to a Ticket

To attach your screenshot to a ticket, you can click the attach button or simply right click and paste your image in if you had copied it from somewhere else
